Autograph letter signed, dated : Lucerne, 9 April 1869, to his brother-in-law [Gotthard Oswald Marbach], 1869 Apr. 9.

Asking for a copy of Marbach's translation of the Nibelungenlied, saying he is rearranging the furnishings of his home where he intends to live and work in seclusion, that he plans to hang portraits of great men and kindred spirits--e.g. Schiller, Goethe, Beethoven, and Mozart--, saying he must laugh that their old friend Laube has inspired Marbach to write a poem, that he hopes to complete the music for Siegfried that spring and that the king of Bavaria intends to have the first part (Das Rheingold) performed in August, mentioning [Das] Judenthum [in der Musik], Rienzi, Eduard Devrient, etc.
